My daughter Rebecca grew up helping me in my flower shop. She’d seen big, beautiful weddings all her life. When she was working for me in high school, she warned me that she didn’t want to have a big wedding, but something very small and intimate. When she was in college and studying abroad to Italy, she told me she wanted to have a destination wedding in Tuscany. Years later, when she met Arie, I started saving my money for plane tickets and brushing up on names of flowers in Italian.
Rebecca & Arie chose to get married at Il Greppo, a charming winery in Montepulciano, Italy. Rebecca wanted a simple, elegant wedding overlooking the vineyard. I used flowers to complement the natural beauty of Tuscany–deep orange calla lilies, white roses, and succulents. I also incorporated flowers from the land itself–lavender, Queen Anne’s lace, olive branches, and grapevine. I tucked in handkerchief’s that belonged to different members of the bride’s family. The whole wedding day was absolutely gorgeous, my daughter’s dream brought to life.
